Job Title: Medical-Surgical Nurse (RN)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical-Surgical Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team in the Tidewater Area, VA. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients with a variety of medical conditions in a fast-paced hospital setting. The Medical-Surgical Nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes while demonstrating excellent clinical skills and compassionate care.

Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.

• Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments as prescribed.

• Monitor and document patients’ conditions, progress, and responses to treatment.

• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.

• Provide patient and family education on conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care.

• Maintain accurate and timely patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

• Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, state regulations, and best nursing practices.

• Assist with pre-operative and post-operative patient care.

• Respond to emergencies and provide immediate interventions as needed.

• Uphold patient safety and infection control standards.

Qualifications:

• Active RN license in the state of Virginia (or compact license).

• Minimum of 1 year of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience.

• BLS and ACLS certification (required).

• Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Ability to work efficiently in a high-stress environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• BSN degree from an accredited nursing program.

• Telemetry experience or certification.

• Experience with wound care, IV therapy, and pain management.

• Previous travel nursing or contract experience is a plus.
